The talented artist, Judith Hendler, began her jewelry career in the early 1980’s. Experimenting with lucite scraps from her husband’s furniture design studio, she created one of a kind bold gems. On a fortuitous day, designer Nolan Miller spotted Judith wearing one of her pieces, and selected 2 necklaces for Joan Collins to wear on the hit TV series, Dynasty. Soon after, fashion designer, Alfred Fiandaca, ordered several pieces for one of his runway collections which soon put her at the attention of fashion industry. In a short few months, she was selling at Bonwitt Teller, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Her pieces were used in many television series including Dynasty, Knot’s Landing, Hotel, and Days of Our Lives. Her "champagne" twist bracelet was used in a major ad campaign for Elizabeth Arden, and examples of her works were published in many international fashion magazines including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. I am very pleased to offer this elegant necklace from Judith Hendler’s personal collection. Her Acri-Gems jewelry collection is made from Acrivue which is a plastic originally intended for aircraft windows. It has a translucency of Bacarrat crystal, and Judith says jewelry made from it "…is like wearing an illusion." She views her work as "wearable sculpture", and each piece is hand cut and polished (not molded like most acrylic jewelry). This chic necklace is made from 16MM tubular lucite tinted in a deep translucent yellow. It has a wearable length of 15", and has a side hinge opening. The matching clip earrings are 4 1/2" long x 1" wide and have mirrored tops with crosshatched dangling prisms. The set is new old stock and has never been worn or previously sold. The set is in excellent condition and has it's original paper labels. Ms. Hendler's personal pieces are available EXCLUSIVELY through Erik Yang at "The Lush Life Antiques." |
