Trifari Sterling Jelly Belly Fly Pin Set
This amazing pin set was designed by the legendary Alfred Philippe of Trifari. In post war America, there was a surplus of lucite from airplane windows, and inventive designers had these panels cut into cabochon shapes for use in costume jewelry. These jelly belly stones were a staple in Trifari designs of the late 1940's. This fly trio is cast from sterling silver and each has intricate pave rhinestone accents. The largest is 1 7/8" long x 1 3/4" wide and has ruby rhinestone eyes. The medium size pin is 1 1/2" long x 1 5/8" wide and has green rhinestone eyes. The smallest fly measures 1 1/8" long x 1 1/8" wide and has blue eyes. All three pieces are hallmarked "Sterling" with the Trifari logo and patent numbers. There is some typical age wear to the gold vermeil, but overall, I grade this set to be in very good to excellent condition.
