This charming antique colonial Mexican pin measures 2 1/2" long x 1 1/4" wide. It is intricately made from 14k gold and has two sterling silver birds set with Persian turquoise stones perched above a nest with fresh water pearl "eggs". It has elaborate scrolls and leaves on the front, and the reverse has a 2 sided glass compartment which originally held a hair sample. It can also be used to keep a cherished photo or other thin momento. It has a secure pin back and the top has a bale so it can be worn as a pendant. It is in very good condition but I suspect the center turquoise dangle is a later replacement.
