This spectacular vintage necklace was designed by couture costume jeweler, Iradj Moini. Iradj's pieces have been shown in many museum exhibits, and examples are on permanent collection at the Louvre's Museum of Fashion and Textile. His pieces are collected by celebrities and fashionistas alike, and his early examples rarely hit the secondary market. This necklace will surely get attention with it's over the top scale and opulent design. It is approximately 22 1/2" long x 2 1/2" wide at the sides. The central buddha figure measures 7 1/2" long x 3" wide and can be detached to be worn as a pin. The buddha is carved from gem quality lapis lazuli and is surrounded by citrine and topaz faceted stones. The setting is made from antiqued brass and the reverse pin is hallmarked "Iradj Moini". It is in excellent condition. A similar necklace is featured in the current collection "Bijoux: Fantasias en moda y joyeria: Coleccion de Barbara Berger" at the Franz Meyer museum in Mexico City.
